The buffet of diets

It seems every week there is a new diet or fad to lose weight. There are “quick” fixes and tricks to get that “hot bod”. There’s even an entire section in bookstores regarding food with cookbooks on numerous diets – common and unknown alike. However, when you break down all these diet books most of them are same thing over and over again with some minor modifications. What diet books don’t tell you is that diets are not a “one size fits all”. We as humans are different and respond differently to food. The problem with these diets is that they are usually just a short term resolution. If someone is on the keto, paleo, Atkins etc… typically someone could lose a significant amount of weight. However, it is not uncommon for individuals to gain that weight and then some if they don’t keep it up. The key to success with weight lose and healthy body is having a good relationship with food and using it as fuel.

The human relationship with food needs to change. In primitive times, it was unknown when we would eat again so our bodies went into starvation mood and craved foods high in fat. With the evolution of the food industry – people (particularly Americans) have relayed heavily on convenience, resulting in foods that are processed and quick. The problems with these foods are that they are loaded with sugar, sodium, and/or fat. As a result, most Americans are overweight. So how do we fix it? We join a gym and overwork our body in a fable attempt to lose the weight. We go on fad diets and starve our bodies.

The answer is simply – eat NATURAL whole foods. If you avoid white grains, processed foods, and reduce the amount of animal products consumed (i.e. dairy and meat) it is guaranteed that you will see positive result. If your diet was mainly consumed of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains you’ll look and feel better. Don’t believe me…try it.

Introduction

“Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it.”
Siddhartha Gautama “Buddha”

Do you know it’s a miracle that you were born? The odds of you being born is 1 in 400 trillion. That’s trillion with a “t”. Once you realize the significance of that statement it seems crazy that you wouldn’t follow your passions and make the most of the life you’ve been given. But what do you do when you don’t know what your passion is or how to spend your life?

When we were kids, we had dreams and goals of where we wanted to see ourselves in the future. The question is…did we actually pursue it? For most of us, the answer is more. It’s never too late to find a new dream, a new goal. The important thing is to keep trying, keep pursing, and continue to work towards your goals.

That’s what this blog is: the journey to find the passion and the research and path along the way. I hope you’ll join me.
